So, I haven't really been doing anything artistic this summer.I finished one painting at the beginning of break, but haven't done much since. That is mostly because my life has been so boring hat I haven't felt any real inspiration. But, I watched Marie antoinette and it was like bam!...inspiration. I actually didn't think I was going to like the movie. Surprisingly, it didn't appeal to me very much even though it features one of my favorite actors, Jason Schwartzman. I'm not the biggest Kirsten Dunst fan, although my perception of her seems to be changing, so that definitely didn't persuade me to go out and watch the movie when it came out. Plus, I'm always reluctant to go watch movies that have a lot of hype. But, I loved all the bright colors. And the music was great. The costumes were amazing!
So, I think I finally found some inspiration. Marie Antoinette and Cupcakes. I think I've just been craving cupcakes. A lot.
I'm currently working on a charcoal/chalk pastel drawing of Marie Antoinette. I will post it up as soon as I'm done.
But meanwhile, check out some artists that I like.
Jonathan Weiner. Check his stuff out here. http://www.vinerstudio.com/I saw his artwork on a poster for an illustration competition and immediately fell in love. He does these great oil paintings. His style is very dark and creepy.
Also, check out Liz McGrath at elizabethmcgrath.com . I met her about 3 years ago. She's so awesome and nice and she does these great sculptures.
You know what's kind of funny? I always write my blog entries as if I'm writing to an audience. WHen in reality, I think Isabel is the only person who ever comments. Anyway, I'm going to try to post up some artwork and stuff....I'm going to go to sleep now.

Dude, I love reading about what you're up to!! And if people we don't know read our blogs... well... that's kind of the nature of the internet!!!
I like Jonathan Weiner, he has some good paintings. BUT I think your stuff is more interesting. Not that I didn't like his work, but he draws very good emo girls!! You're really good and you have more substance, so I'm glad the inspiration has hit you! And as for the times when it doesn't... well... welcome to my life! Summer has been lame for art for me too. So let's get back to school and start doing cool stuff ;)
